Youth at First United are a key part of our congregation and are not only thought of as the future of the church, but we focus on them in the present - as they are now. The opportunities for involvement in worship, music, education, special events & programming are great at First United. Our purpose is to help children & youth believe & understand life in Jesus Christ. All are welcome...
Worship - We encourage families to worshiptogether on a regular basis, but kids are also welcomed & invited to participate & help out with worship responsibilities suchas, music & bell choirs, assistant ministers, communion helpers, ushering, altar guild, sound & lights, coffee hosting, acoylte, children's time plus, and in our nursery.
Music - First United has a wonderful music minstry programs. Our children & youth are involved in many different ways from singing to playing instruments. Please check out the music page for more details on these exciting & meaningful ways to praiseGod through music.
Education - Helping to develop faith formation is another big part of what we have & we have a variety of different ways to offer help to families. Youth Forum and Sunday morning classes aredesigned to engage middle & high schoolers in discussion about their faith through activities, games & Bible studies. Our Confirmation (see details) Program is also a large part of the educational opportunities offered. Confirmation starts in the 7th grade and ends at the end of 9th grade & is broken down into two different groups. Our 7th & 8th graders meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. for class during the school year (Sept. thru 1st week in May). This group studies the elements of Luther's Small Catechism as well as basic theology and Bible stories. During the 9th grade year students have class on the 1st & the 3rd Wednesday evenings & are paired with an adult member of the congregation for a year of mentoring.
