First United offers many different ways for children & families to be involved in worship and fun, faith filled activies...
Sunday School~ Designed for children from three years old through high school, Sunday School is held September through May. We use age appropriate lessons with adult volunteers who have been trained to assure the children in our care have an opportunity to share & grow in their faith.
Child Care ~ This is provided in our nursery by paid staff and volunteer helpers during worship services & education time. Children birth through age three are welcome & can be brought to the nursey anytime during the service.
Vacation Bible School~ Usually held the first week of August, this exciting time of education & fellowship typically has over 100 participants! It has become well known in the community & is a wonderful opportunity for outreach. We provide faith filled lessons, crafts, snacks, games, & movies during this week. Ages from three years old to 5th grade can register for this exciting week of learning more about God & his love for all of us. We welcome anyone who would like to participate.
Great Beginnings Preschool ~ Basic Christian principles and pre-kindergarten preparations are the emphasis our wonder preschool. Children must be at least three years old by September 1 of the current school year. The school runs September through May, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Parents can choose the number of days each week their child attends.
Songs & Supper ~ On Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. our Fellowship Hall is open and there is pizza available for families during children's choir rehearsals and before confirmation. I free will offering is taken to help off set the cost of the pizzas.
"Chaos" grade school youth group- This group meets once a month with the youth ministers of FULC to do fun activities such as movies, lock ins, retreats, & bowling. Milestone Events ~ FULC loves & supports children in our congregation. Here are special milestone events that are celebrated annually through out the course of a year...
Bible Distribution for Three Year Olds ~ given out on the first Sunday of Sunday School
Bible Distribution for Third Graders ~ given out during the spring of their 3rd grade year along with Old & New Testament Instruction.
Holy Communion Instruction ~ Usually in late Oct., or early Nov. for 2nd graders & any other child needing instruction. Chalises are also made for using during their First Communion.
